Attivo l'ambulatorio per liberare i dipendenti della rete

Curare la dipendenza patologica da internet, ovvero i disturbi del comportamento ossessivo verso il web. È questo l’obiettivo dell’ambulatorio dedicato all’Internet Addiction Disorder che ha iniziato l’attività lunedì 2 novembre 2009 all’interno del Day hospital psichiatrico del Policlinico Universitario “Agostino Gemelli” di Roma. Ubicato al piano -1 del Gemelli l’ambulatorio arricchisce l’offerta assistenziale dell’ UO di consultazione psichiatrica del Gemelli per la cura di tutte le dipendenze, da quelle da alcol e droghe fino a quella da gioco d’azzardo. Per i programmi di riabilitazione l’attività degli psichiatri del Gemelli si avvale della collaborazione dell’Associazione “La Promessa”.
“L’utilizzo patologico di internet provoca sintomi fisici molto simili a quelli manifestati da tossicomani in crisi di astinenza. Grazie a questo nuovo ambulatorio – spiega lo psichiatra Federico Tonioni, che ne è il coordinatore – potremo garantire ai nostri pazienti di contenere quel malessere che per molti durante l’astinenza dal web si trasforma in ansia, depressione e paura di perdere il controllo di ciò che accade in internet, intervenendo nella struttura mentale sottostante alla dipendenza con curiosità e umiltà”.
